ACORE Statement on Biden Administration Section 201 Tariff Announcement

Statement From Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy:

“Given multiple factors that impact domestic solar manufacturing, ACORE is encouraged to see the Biden administration modify the Section 201 tariffs to better ensure the United States has access to the materials and equipment we need to deploy more renewable energy onto the grid. Excluding bifacial solar panels and raising the annual limit on duty-free solar cell imports to 5 gigawatts are reasonable steps that will help our clean energy sector to continue growing at the rate we need to reach our climate goals. In the long-term, however, we must focus our efforts on growing the robust domestic supply chain needed to accelerate the energy transition, including enactment of the clean energy manufacturing incentives found in the Build Back Better Act.”
