ACORE Statement on House Energy and Water Appropriations Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following is a statement from Jose Zayas, Executive Vice President of Policy and Programs at the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), on the Fiscal Year 2023 Energy and Water appropriations bill, which was passed today by the House of Representatives as part of the spending minibus:

“We are pleased to see the House express its strong support for renewable energy in the FY 2023 Energy and Water Appropriations bill. The legislation contains a much-needed increase in the Department of Energy’s budget. This includes funding for the new Grid Deployment Office, which will be integral to modernizing the nation’s high-voltage transmission network and directing support for converter stations, long distance transmission, and upgrades to interties in the West. We are also grateful to see new funding for the use of the Defense Production Act to accelerate the development of a domestic supply chain of solar panels and other critical clean energy components. ACORE looks forward to working with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to enact these important investments into law this year.”
