ACORE Statement on President Biden’s FY2023 Budget Request

Statement From Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy:

“The Biden Administration’s new budget request reflects its focus on clean energy technologies, committing $9.2 billion to clean energy projects that will create good-paying jobs, reduce energy costs for American families and help protect Americans from the worst impacts of climate change. The budget request also demonstrates a growing awareness of how important our transmission grid is to unlocking America’s renewable energy resources, with over $3 billion to make our grid more reliable and resilient as we decarbonize the power sector, including new or reinstated grant programs and the establishment of a new Grid Deployment Office.

“The President’s budget also calls for significant increases in discretionary funding for the Department of Energy and the Department of the Interior, including for clean energy deployment and workforce development programs, as part of the administration’s whole-of-government approach to tackling the climate crisis. Overall, the proposal calls for nearly $45 billion across all federal agencies to address climate change. ACORE applauds the administration for prioritizing domestic manufacturing in the President’s budget, including a new $200 million Solar Manufacturing Accelerator program. We look forward to working with the Biden administration and Congressional leaders to secure funding for these critical priorities.”
