Chris Ramsey Will Drive A Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE On An Epic Adventure From The North Pole To The South Pole
Chris Ramsey, a British adventurer, will be the first person to drive an electric vehicle of any kind from the North Pole to the South Pole, according to a new press release that was emailed to me. The video below was also emailed to me and I uploaded it to my private YouTube so that I could include it here.
He will depart on his journey in March of 2023 and travel over 17,000 miles across 14 countries from the Arctic into North America, Central America, and South America before crossing into Antarctica. The goal of the expedition is to raise awareness of the climate crisis and the critical role that EVs play in reducing the carbon footprint.
Chris Ramsey and his team have been preparing for this journey for over four years, and now it’s been announced that Nissan will be the official vehicle partner of the Pole to Pole Expedition.
The all-new Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE will see Chris Ramsey and his team through some of the world’s most beautiful and extreme terrains, as well as temperatures ranging from -30°C to 30°C. The journey will not only be an adventure of a lifetime for Chris Ramsey, but his adventures will help debunk the fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) that we so often see as a dark mist around the topic of EVs. One way to debunk the FUD of range anxiety is to say, “well, Chris Ramsey drove an EV from the North Pole to the South Pole.”
Nissan & Chris Ramsey Are Here For The Harsh Arctic & Antarctic Conditions
To prepare for the extreme conditions of both the Arctic and Antarctic, the Nissan Ariya e-4ORCE will be modified and equipped by Arctic Trucks, which specializes in polar vehicles. They’ll also provide logistical support and expertise for planning a safe and accessible route through some of the most hostile and remote environments on the planet.
Chris Ramsey and his team will have several adventures along the journey. Not only will they endure the extreme polar climate, but also every single climate in between the poles. They will travel over Arctic sea ice but also through both North and South America, where they will face torrential rain, mud, soaring temperatures at the equator, and the high altitude of the Andes.
And the team will also meet new people along the way. They will also investigate solutions for sustainability issues such as polar melting to habitat loss while exploring different cultures and communities.
Chris Ramsey and his team also plan to raise international awareness of the climate crisis and awareness of just how capable EVs are. The adventurer and his team will get involved with local projects, visit schools that teach children about renewable energy, and even venture into the Ecuadorian Amazon to meet a local tribe that protected their ancestral home.
Chris Ramsey has spent over a decade undertaking adventures in EVs. In 2017, he and his wife, July, were the first team to complete the Mongol Rally in an all-electric vehicle. They traveled over 10,000 miles through 20 countries in 56 days. The two drove from the UK to Siberia in his Nissan LEAF.
Chris Ramsey gave the following statement about the upcoming adventure:
“Our mission is to show that electric vehicles can tackle the harshest of environments — from the bitter cold of the poles to the hot and humid jungles of South America, and illustrate that they can meet the demands of drivers around the world, and encourage the switch to zero-emissions transport. To that end, we are thrilled that Nissan has joined the expedition. As a long-term Nissan LEAF owner and driver, I’m eager to get behind the wheel of my Ariya and put it to the ultimate test on this incredible 17,000-mile journey. It is fantastic to see such an important global brand get behind Pole to Pole and its fundamental purpose — a better world for us all through smarter, more sustainable mobility. We will also raise awareness of sustainable lifestyles, conservation projects, and renewable energy innovation along our route.”
Nissan Executive Vice President, Global Head of Marketing and Sales Asako Hoshino said that he was proud to announce the partnership and added that the e-4ORCE would be the perfect partner for Chris and his team.
“We’re proud to announce our partnership with Chris Ramsey and the Pole to Pole expedition team. The all-new, all-electric Ariya crossover SUV enables you to go further, easier, and in comfort. With e-4ORCE control technology providing enhanced stability and traction on a variety of surfaces, we know it will be the perfect partner for Chris and his team on their challenging all-electric journey.”
