Our support for charity | E.ON blog
We launched our relationship with our current charity partner Alzheimer’s Society back in 2016 with a ‘Road to Rio’ challenge to coincide with the Olympic Games. More than 1,400 employees from across the country had the opportunity to take part, which involved running, cycling, walking and swimming the distance to Rio de Janeiro, racking up a total of 5,150 miles between them.
Since then, we’ve raised over £350,000 for the charity’s Dementia Support Workers, taken part in Memory Walks up and down the country and hosted a dementia-friendly cinema screening for people diagnosed with dementia and their carers. We’re also proud to have created a lasting legacy – more than 5,000 E.ON employees have become Dementia Friends over the course of our partnership, strengthening the community of people seeking to shift people’s perceptions of dementia.
We’re committed to supporting Alzheimer’s Society until the end of this year. In January 2022, our new partnership with Mind will begin. We’ve championed a culture for many years in which colleagues can be open and feel supported talking about their mental health, working with Mind will help strengthen this as we learn from their expertise. And with our help, the charity can continue providing valuable advice and support to people living with mental health problems.
